Following the children’s lead

This short film follows Cowgate practitioner Simon Bateson on a day out with his children and their friends at Humbie Woods, Edinburgh. After a visit to the local churchyard where they explore ideas about mortality, they enter the woods and explore the rich, open-ended surroundings at their own pace.

Stickland: Cowgate Under 5s original nature kindergarten

“Stickland” was the name given by children at Cowgate Under 5s to the woodland and fields at Bonaly, Edinburgh, to which they were invited each day. This short film describes and shows aspects of Cowgate’s Froebelian practice in this setting.
