Beginnings
– How I view my practice at the start of my current training –
This practitioner has not chosen to share this information at this time.
I have 17 years experience in Early Years, and I love the fact that no single day is the same. I love helping children and their families and I feel it is one of the most rewarding jobs. I love the seeing the progress children make, watching them grow and develop into confident individuals, then think how I can help them further.
I raise attainment and narrow the attainment gap in literacy and numeracy for our children. I use evidence based practice to identify the most effective ways to support and scaffold achievable outcomes for children. I track, monitor and evaluate our children, experiences and programmes. I create a safe, and stimulating enviroment for the children to learn.
I work collaboratively with my colleagues through role modelling and sharing good practice.
I try to take the children’s views and follow each childs interest, for example if a child has a particular interest in a certain schema I would set up invitations of play for that child to develop and learn in their own way.
Material and experiences are child centred as we do set up experiences based on children’s observations or child’s voice.
The environment we also observe how they play in it and of it doesn’t work , we would change to suit their needs.
Procedures are respectful to our children, staff and parents.
Children not all and not all The time are sometimes asked their thoughts on what they would like moverd or woudo they would like added to the environment that would be documented on a mind map or through drawings the children make.
We follow a basic rhythm of the day but this is open to change depending on
The children’s levels of engagement or interests, for example snack time.
I want the children to be more at the heart of our establishment, i want them have more say and hear their voices more, I feel we do this but it needs to strengthened.
I value that my colleagues and bosses value and respect me and that they care about my views
And that of the children’s and parents, having managements openess to change and who respect others is vital and this helps me to do my job well.
