Beginnings
– How I view my practice at the start of my current training –

Every day is different. Every day I learn together with them. I realise that, in order to understand them, I have to keep expanding my knowledge.
Helping children to develop their curiosity and feel safe in the nursery
When I listen to the child, make myself available to them and give them my time.
First and foremost, in the Policy of my workplace, the child is at the centre of attention. The place also operates in accordance with all government and local authority guidelines for working with children. Every action I take is child related. Through contact and observation of children, their needs and interests are considered every day. Activities are organised on this basis. Children have access to aids that they are interested in, such as paints, paper, and pens. They also have the opportunity to decide what they will eat for their snack.
The voice of children in my workplace is very important. Children have the opportunity to express themselves. Staff try to meet the needs of children. Above all, I try to listen to children and understand them. Contact with them teaches me to be attentive to their other needs.
Through the course I have completed I have had the opportunity to structure and deepen my knowledge of child development. The holistic approach to the child is incredible for me. The idea that a child learns best through play has allowed me to understand that learning can be enjoyable for a child and there are different forms of learning.
I work with small vulnerable children. They come from different countries, from different families. Regardless, to me, they are all children. They all need love and care in the same way.
Above all, I hope to be more confident in my work. To be able to use my knowledge and increase it.
I can say that I am lucky because the Froebel spirit is very well known in my workplace, and I can always count on help and cooperation.
