Beginnings

How I view my practice at the start of my current training

Learning from the children, valuing each child as an individual and supporting them through their interests to develop their skills further. Everyday is different and I feel like each day I continue to learn something new.

Providing an environment and experiences in which children feel safe, nurtured and will learn in. Supporting my team to provide such experiences and child led opportunities, observe children and build on each others skills, modelling goof practice and sharing knowledge.

Supporting children to learn skills for life.

Building relationships with families from transition stage and throughout their nursery journey, creating links between home and elc and supporting families.

All day, every day. Children are at the centre of everything we do within our nursery this is reflected through our practice, our experiences, spaces and interactions. We follow a child led approach with some adult initiated experiences which are built on from children's initial interests. I observe children to learn from them and to support their needs.

Using care plan documents I get to know our children from the the initial transition process and continue to observe and work with the child and their family to get to know more about each individual.

We have developed a child centred approach to our planning which is personalised to our setting, our children, families and teams. This ensures everything we do has our children at the centre and includes their perspectives on their learning.

Environment, structure etc is created with children through our child centred planning. Children's perspectives of their own individual and group learning is evident throughout planning and journals.

Our vision values and aims were created with our children as well as risk assessments. We are reflecting on how our policies could include our children more.

Continue to depeen my knowledge of Froebelian practice and principles and embed this throughout our ELC. I hope that as I further my knowledge I will continue to be more confident in sharing this across our nursery team but also wider school team.
