– How I view my practice at the start of my current training –

I love that children are always learning - often teaching myself new ideas. I love that no 2 days or 2 hours are the same within our nursery and that every child is an individual.
I would describe my role as nurturing and guiding our young children and parents.
I constantly strive to put the child at the centre of their learning. I always try facilitate learning instead of showing a child what to do by allowing them to move freely around our setting and garden, I try to engage them in activities that interest them most, this helps them to make decisions and can boost their confidence..
As our centre is based within a school the rooms and garden used to be very sterile. We have introduced lots of house plants and natural products where we can. Our garden now has lots of raised beds, areas for digging and planting and lots of loose parts play.
The children in our setting always have a voice. They are included in everything from deciding artwork, room lay out to helping to order the shopping on the ipads
Froebelian thinking has greatly inspired my practice by giving me the confidence to allow play to develop and to say to staff that its ok to use clay and tools or woodwork and to look at our little nursery with an open mind.
I am constantly Spreading the Froebelian word. by spreading empowering information with staff, parents and the children whether it is through word of mouth our Facebook pages or our floor books with the children.
I hope to strengthen my relationships with the children, parents and staff and grow my knowledge of everything Froebelian.
