Beginnings
– How I view my practice at the start of my current training –

Every day is a new day and no day is ever the same. Developing relationships with staff and children and all service users daily. Watching children's faces light up and welcome you as they walk into the playroom. Looking into their eyes and seeing the love and trust they have in you as they depend on your help. As they overcome challenges, watching their faces light up as they achieve something and you see how proud they are of themselves and they see how proud you are of them.
"Fixer of everything"
As the nursery manager, I oversee all learning environments within the nursery. I share my knowledge with all practitioners, to ensure that children receive high quality care and learning experiences during their time at nursery.
Through the children's interests, listening to children's play and then providing play provocations to take that interest one step further.
Our learning environment is stimulating with a variety of play provocations set out within areas to encourage self-directed play. All materials are available for children at their level to allow children to direct their own learning and demonstrate a willingness to learn. Children having access to outdoors daily and having the choice of when they want to go outside.
Our main key principles is learning through play. We also love to learn outdoors and engage with nature through our forest schools adventures.
SHANARRI terms are used daily, through play, for children to hear. We advocate children's rights with the hope that they understand the importance of their wellbeing and the value of being listened to, to support their future.
Respect - showing others that I value what they have to say, making an effort to let others speak and show you are listening. Communication - by having an open door policy and giving people the time so that they can come to me for support or advise.
