Becomings

Changes to my thinking or practice which are emerging as a result of my current training

This practitioner has not chosen to share this information at this time.

What I enjoy about working with young children is that their ideas can all vary which means what they produce is so unique.

My role as a class teacher remains very much the same however I am much more equipped to support with using technology to enhance learning.

My practice is mainly child centred as I follow a play based approach in class so often follow the children's leads with ideas. I am more confident in the ideas of my learners and I am confident that child led will spark more enthusiasm in the learning.

All of my environment, materials and procedures are child centred. Children know the classroom well as it has been created by them for their use. I still feel strongly about children knowing their setting well and helping to create it.

Children participate in the setting up of lessons and changing the daily time table. The children have set routines that they created such as practising their first names independently which they will follow through with ease.

Froebel's beliefs have a great impact on my practice today. I believe unity and connectedness and the role of the adult are clear throughout the day to day teaching in my class.

I ensure all children are treated with equal respect and care. It is of highest importance to keep children safe and happy. The overall well being of the children in my care is central to my practice.

I am keen to develop my involvement in outdoor activities with the children. I feel that there has not been a lot of use of the outdoors to enhance learning so far.

I greatly value the strong relationships with parents and caregivers. I believe knowing my families well and being aware of various circumstances is what makes me most impactful and successful at my role as the educator in my P1 setting.
