I currently work in a LA nursery in Edinburgh and am keen to embed Froebelian philosophy and principles into the daily life of the setting, and in particular consider 'freedom with guidance' (Liebschner, 1977) as central to Froebelian education.

The aim is not to make sculptors out of the children but, drawing on Froebelian principles, investigate the extent to which using clay can unearth deep, rich learning to awaken children’s feelings, language, frustrations and desires.
