Becomings

Changes to my thinking or practice which are emerging as a result of my current training

This practitioner has not chosen to share this information at this time.

Every day is different, there is always something that children can teach us as practitioners. Children are always keen and eager to learn. life is always fun.

My role now is also as an educator but also as a researcher, a driver of change (even if it is small and steady) to help develop practice and learning.

I believe my practice is more child-centered and child-led in many and varied areas of my practice. I am more aware of how to allow children to develop and drive the ethos and pedagogy of my setting.

I think it is mainly the procedures that have changed. We are now more aware of how to develop the children's involvement within the policies and procedures within the nursery.

Children are key to our whole philosophy. However, before this learning, we had not considered having children involved in developing and participating in developing their own policies. This has been a huge change in thinking and practice.

Considering Froebelian thinking has helped broaden my own thoughts on how to develop a child-led and child-centered approach. Helping children to develop their own skills and direct their own learning is key. Allowing children to be children and develop their interests is liberating as a practitioner.

Having a greater understanding of how social justice can impact how we view situations that occur within the setting. This allows for a fairer and just environment.

I hope to develop more skills and knowledge on how to develop further child-centered and child-focused opportunities within my setting.

I value the support of my team leader and colleagues who help support and develop initiatives within the setting. Believing that these projects have an impact on the provision and opportunities within the setting.
