I started my Froebelian journey in 2020. My main Froebelian interests lie in nature and gardening as I pursued this path for my previous project. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to enhance my Froebelian knowledge over the next 8 months

How I view my practice at the start of my current training

This practitioner has not chosen to share this information at this time.

Supporting and nurturing their physical, mental and emotional development. Seeing their journey of progression and working alongside their families to support them during their nursery journey.

I am a team leader and therefore wear many different hats during the working day. I am responsible for sharing best practice and knowledge with a team of up to 35 colleagues. I over see and co-ordinate shifts, lunch breaks and ratios. I support colleagues with their planning and professional development and encourage and facilitate learning opportunities to enhance professional learning and development. I also support staff on the playroom floor and spend time in all play rooms with all age groups of children 0-5.

This is a job I have undertaken to better the early years experience for the children in my care and I therefore feel that all my practice is child centred. This is the reason I am participating in this training opportunity, to develop my own skills and knowledge to be able to support the children in my care better. My practice is child centred by observing and being mind minded to best understand their needs and wants and developing these.

We ensure we are responsive in our environments to support the children's needs and ideas. Materials are freely available to promote children's choice and to ensure they have all the tools they require to progress and lead their own learning. We ensure that the nursery ethos supports child lead learning opportunities and our planning, learning journals and the child's development is reflective of this. We have incorporated loose parts play, block play, wood work and gardening to promote each individual child's curiosity and inquiry.

Children participate within all aspects of the nursery environment by having their voices heard, acknowledged and actioned by the adults supporting them. The child's voice is present and evident throughout the nursery environment. Their participation in my own practice has been influenced by training opportunities I have undertaken to learn to listen and observe.

My knowledge from Froebel in Practice relating to mind mindedness has informed my daily practice in regards to tuning into the child's, needs, thoughts and ideas. This thinking has helped me to enhance my observation and listening skills.

over the years I have developed a good concrete understanding of the child's rights which is evident within my practice. I ensure equity and equality for all the children in my care to ensure the best outcomes for their learning, development and care. UNCRC rights of the child are evidenced within the child's learning journals and throughout the nursery and through planning.

To further embed Frobelian principles within my own practice as well as my settings and to be able to share the knowledge i gain with fellow colleagues to implement a collaborative approach to best support the child's learning and development.

Knowledgeable colleagues and educators to better inform and support the development of my practice.
