Beginnings
– How I view my practice at the start of my current training –

I enjoy the difference in each day I work with young children. The conversations, observations and interactions I have with a diverse number of children. It's good to stop and reflect on the world through a child's eye or point of view.
I see myself as someone who can share knowledge and experience with children to aid scaffolding their own learning about the world around them through nurturing relationships.
I would say ALL areas of my practice are child - centred, from settling a new child in, to forming positive relationships to supporting and extending their learning journey. I take my cue from the children in front of me for my next steps to support them, their interests and learning through interactions, observation and conversation.
My setting's ethos, vision, values and aims are inspired by Froebelian Principles. We have developed a clear, detailed Holistic Curriculum map, based around the child as a growing strong Scottish Thistle. We aim to provide warm, welcoming and inclusive approach to all our children, families and the wider community.
Our playroom is inspired by Froebelian Principles and Biophilia, connecting nature to our working environment with natural resources, open ended play materials and free flow access to the outdoors.
