How I view my practice at the start of my current training

This practitioner has not chosen to share this information at this time.

I love that everyday is different and you are guaranteed that a child will melt your heart or make you laugh on a daily basis. I enjoy that I am helping every child I come into contact with, expand their knowledge and reach their full potential, Through activities and play that they might not be able to experience at home.

My role is to be the scaffold each child needs to reach their full potential. Being someone to laugh with them, comfort them and provide the praise and encouragement they need to learn.

When in a small group or one to one situation. Allowing the children to take the lead and following them without interfering or restricting them.

Free flow play around the room, open door to the outside area, Children choose their own lunch from the menu, Activities based on observations of the children's interests and what they say they would like to play with. Staff allowing children to take activities in a different direction and following this direction.

We observe and listen to the children during their play. We will seek their opinion and ask them what they would like to play with or what they would like to know about something. During our daily reflection time we encourage the children to say what they have liked or disliked doing or playing with that day.

I try to have a Froebelian approach to my practice everyday. I try to follow Froebel’s principle of Autonomous learners by allowing each child to play, create, move, and explore at their own pace. When a child is playing, I try to allow the child freedom to move and act as best as I can without restricting or interfering in their play unnecessary just like Froebel believed.

By promoting that we are all equal and to respect each other no matter how we appear, dress, what we have and what we like.

I hope to strengthen my own, and staff within my settings, knowledge of Frobel's principles and practice. Leading to a holistic Froebelian approach to learning that underpins our daily experiences and learning for each child.

To not over complicate things and give me time to think. An understanding that taking part and supporting a child in an activity is, in my opinion, more important than making sure some electronic or paper form is filled in.
